Wednesday, March 25, 2009 -  Thank you to all our members that responded to our Survey. We asked four (4) questions. Our goal is to deliver barrel races that are appealing to the majority of our members. All answers received were closely evaluated and the majority are being implemented. The questions: #1) What is the most important factor for you whe attend a barrel race? #2)Preferences, Single Barrel Race, Double Header or Two Double Headers per weekend? #4)Preferences Prizes, Trophies, or Added Cash? Preference for 3D, 4D, 5D, or 6D. RESULTS TALLY: As promised we are in the process of implementing what you the TBE Members want, We hear Your Voice and we do place great value on your requests, Thank you! Survey Response as follows: #1) Location was most important to 77% of responses.
#2) Double Headers were most favored 50%+, followed closely by 2 double header weekends with 4 barrel races 43%, single barrel races were the least desirable by those that responded.
#3) Added money was favored by 92% that responded followed by prizes and trophies were least desirable. A surprise as we thought trophies like a truck, saddles, and buckles were key???
#4)The most favored divisional split was 4D at 45% with 5D in second place 35%, and 3D and 6D were a tie. Added Comments were:#1) Request for Finals Weekend Change for several reasons: fall harvest for farmers, kids go back to school, return/start college, BCBRA Finals and the Wrangler Rodeo new season starts.
#2)Outdoor Arena in the Summer Sun, Great IDEA!!!
Turn$BurnEarn Barrel Races FINALS Economic Strategy: “Tough Economic Times Require Tough Action!!!” #1) Reduce finals entry fee from $225.00 to $195.00-Guarantees you 3 runs with the potential to collect winnings on all 3 runs! #2) Central Location to reduce hauling costs for TBE Members.
#3)Allow TBE Members to set up their own pens on the grass to save $50. on each stall.
#4) Co-approve with other associations to qualify TBE members where possible.
To Deliver on Our Promise To Implement TBE Member Requested Changes: #1)The TBE Finals will be held at the Ponoka Stampede Grounds, Ponoka, AB Central Alberta which would be approx 1 ½ hours north of Calgary verses Claresholm 1 ½ hours south of Calgary. We trust this will make it more “meet in the middle” for all attending the Finals.
#2) The TBE Finals will be held the August Long Weekend, Friday July 31, Saturday August 1, and Sunday August 2, 2009.
#3) Exhibition/Timed Only runs will be held Thursday August 30/09 from 12 Noon to 9:PM, Open riding 6:PM – 7:PM NO BARREL WORK DURING OPEN RIDING.
We hope the SBRA Finals held during the week leading up to our Finals will still enable the gals to join us on the weekend.
